Non-Surgical Cosmetic Treatments in Petersfield

Anti-wrinkle injections are available in our dental surgery in Petersfield and are administered by our highly trained staff. We have spent a great deal of time studying the anatomy of the face, and believe we can deliver subtle results using these unobtrusive treatments.

What Are Anti-Wrinkle Treatments?

Anti-wrinkle treatments describe a number of procedures which are used to minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in both male and female patients. The most common non-surgical anti-wrinkle treatment uses a product called Botox, which is created using a naturally occurring substance. This substance is injected into specific points of a patient’s face to smooth out wrinkles and create a natural, refreshed appearance which is virtually undetectable to the naked eye when applied professionally.

Areas Treated by Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Numerous areas of the face can be treated using anti-wrinkle injections. A common area of our patient’s concern is the forehead, where frown lines can become more noticeable as a patient’s skin becomes thinner and less elastic. Classic frown lines can appear horizontally along the width of the forehead, or vertical lines can appear between the brows, making the patient appear angry.

These frown lines can be softened simply by using a small injection of Botox. Careful positioning of the Botox on the line between the brows and at key points in the eyebrow can raise the skin near the brows, creating a natural-looking brow lift.

Other patients request anti-wrinkle injections to minimise crow’s feet and laughter lines. These lines are caused by the constant use of the skin around the eyes when smiling or frowning. While this is a natural effect of time, it can prematurely age the face.

A small injection of Botox into the outer corners and upper cheek of the patient can minimise deeper wrinkles in this area for a more youthful appearance. These injections are sometimes combined with dermal filler along the brow bone if hooded eyes are also present. This gives a very effective, open-eyed look.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections in the Lower Face

While anti-wrinkle injections are perhaps better known for their effects on a patient’s forehead, they can be very effectively used on the lower face, too. One common injection site is around the mouth, particularly where a patient is a smoker. Fine lines caused by pursing the lips can be smoothed and minimised. Those with a downturned mouth can also benefit by having a very slight amount of Botox injected into the corners of the mouth to upturn a smile.

On a medical level, bruxist patients with strong, tense jaw muscles can also have Botox injected into this area to relieve teeth grinding, jaw tensing and increased muscle bulk. This can give a soft, gentle look to an over-muscular jaw area, reshaping the face in a subtle way.

Anti-wrinkle treatments can be combined with dermal fillers in areas where volume is lost for a bespoke treatment.
