The Juvederm 8 Point Facelift Explained

If you’ve begun to notice the effects of time on your face, but the thought of going under the knife concerns you, the Juvederm 8 point face lift may be an ideal solution.

Unlike a conventional face lift, which is a surgical procedure involving weeks of downtime, the Juvederm face lift is created by injecting a dermal filler into key points in the face. The process is so fast that it can be handled in your lunch break, providing instant results with just slight bruising and redness which soon disappears. There is little to no downtime with this method.

What is Juvederm?

You may have heard of the name Juvederm before. It is a brand name of a popular dermal filler created using hyaluronic acid. It comes in three different varieties: the Voluma, the Volbella and the Volift. Each of these dermal fillers has a different density and use, with Voluma used for the heaviest work, injected deeply to restore lost volume.

The 8 Point Facelift Explained

The 8 point face lift is so-called because Juvederm is injected into eight points in the face to give an overall lift and rejuvenated appearance. The treatment is used in preference to chasing single wrinkles with botox or dermal fillers, treating the face as a whole rather than looking at one individual flaw.

The dermal filler is injected using a thin cannula, needle, or combination of the two. How much dermal filler is used depends on the individual patient. The filler is injected into eight carefully placed positions in the face, which were originally identified by Dr Mauricio De Maio, the originator of the liquid face lift.

The points are spread throughout the face, with three under the eye and in the periorbital area, three in the nasolabial fold between the nose and mouth, and two towards the outside of the jaw and cheek. These positions were carefully chosen because of their safe positioning and the underlying structure of the face.

By injecting Juvederm into these points, patients receive an optimum level of lift and volume restoration without experiencing the puffy-faced appearance associated with older filler techniques.

Results vary from patient to patient, but expect them to last between 4-6 months as a minimum. The 8 point face lift is considered a long-term strategy for improving the appearance. Patients are advised that if small quantities of filler are used in treatment, it may require multiple treatments to receive the desired appearance.

As always, this is a collaborative experience between you, our patient, and our highly skilled team at the Lodge Dental Practice.

Patient Aftercare

The Juvederm procedure is very quick and produces minimal side effects. Some light bruising and redness can occur, which can be treated using paracetamol and applying ice to the affected area, if necessary. You may also wish to use arnica cream or tablets for a few days prior to your filler injections. Some patients report that this minimises bruising.
